The Brief
County Contractors partnered with MGC to carry out a full commercial glazing replacement at the prominent Boots store and offices in central Brighton. The project involved replacing 41 large windows located on the 3rd and 4th floors with new Green Anti-Sun double-glazed units. Due to the building’s height, the busy high street location and the need to protect newly refurbished interiors, the project required careful planning and execution.
Our Approach
Our experts conducted a complete site survey to assess the building and determine the exact glass specification required. We specified toughened safety glass with Green Anti-Sun coating to match the aesthetic and performance needs of the building. Despite global supply constraints for this type of glass, MGC’s trusted supply chain ensured timely delivery within two weeks of order placement.
The building was already scaffolded as part of an ongoing refurbishment, which enabled us to access the upper floors and streamline project logistics safely. All work was planned to prioritise the safety of our operatives, Boots staff and the public. Comprehensive Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH documentation were prepared and approved by the principal contractor ahead of installation.
Our Gold CSCS Level 3 NVQ-certified glazing team commenced work once site inductions were completed. Installation was carried out over two days. To ensure consistent progress and minimise disruption, the team stayed locally overnight.
Existing windows were carefully removed without damaging the surrounding walls or recently installed blinds. The new windows at Boots were installed internally and then sealed externally, taking full advantage of the scaffold to ensure a watertight finish.
