The Brief
A high-security premises in Hatton Garden required a specialist window replacement after their armoured glass pane was broken. Unlike standard glazing, this security window featured multi-layered glass and interlayers made to withstand forced entry. MGC Glazing was tasked with sourcing an exact match and installing it safely while handling complex access restrictions.
The Challenge
Due to the extreme thickness and weight of the glass (over 300kg), our survey team used advanced laser tools to identify the exact glass composition. The replacement had to integrate perfectly with the existing high-security frame and meet all strict performance standards.
The main challenge was accessing the installation site. Traditional lifting equipment couldn’t be used because there was no rear access. Instead, we sourced a slim-line vacuum lifting robot capable of manoeuvring through the secure building’s narrow entry points. This allowed us to transport and install the glass safely.
Following weeks of planning and completing a custom-manufactured replacement, our team executed the installation with precision. After removing the damaged unit, the new security window was lifted into place using vacuum technology, ensuring an ultra-secure fit without compromising the surrounding structure.
The Outcome
The completed installation restored the building’s security with an exact match to the original specifications. The multi-layered, impact-resistant glass ensures maximum protection while maintaining the aesthetic and structural integrity of the premises.
